What the official fee covers

The published totals include registration, the FBR certificate and the non-refundable postage and handling charge. Certificate-ordering costs, identity photographs, witnessing, translations and postage to the FBR office are separate unless a support service explicitly includes them.

When the processing clock is meaningful

The approximately 12-month figure applies to a complete application. If required documents are missing or inconsistent, the Department may return the pack or request more information. The most useful way to protect the timeline is therefore to verify the route, records and witnessing before posting.

How to reduce avoidable delay

• Use the current route-specific DFA checklist.
• Gather records before completing the online form.
• Resolve name and date discrepancies with the correct evidence.
• Use the same eligible witness for the form, photographs and ID copy.
• Send the pack by recorded post and retain a scan and tracking proof.

No commercial fast track

A preparation provider can save you work and reduce avoidable mistakes, but cannot move an application ahead of the DFA queue or guarantee a completion date. Expectant parents with a child due before processing is complete should contact the DFA directly using its published customer-service route.
